Reclaim the night picnic and march: Reclaim our rights!
Stop harassment on the street; stop online harassment; stop domestic violence. Please join us in reclaiming our rights to feel safe in public space at night. This event is open to everyone who supports the movement to end violence against women. One in five women in Australia will experience sexual assault in their lifetime, others will experience other assaults. We need to reclaim our spaces – on the streets, in our homes, online, in workplaces; everywhere. Women have the right to live free of fear, free from the threats of physical, emotional and psychological abuse.
Hyde Park. A family-friendly picnic from 4pm, followed by the traditional march from 7pm. Live music from woman-identified performers throughout the event.

"Australia has the most restrictive media in the western world. Censorship by omission denies Australians their democratic right to make sense of whole stratas of political and foreign policy. That's why Green Left Weekly is a beacon, doing a job of honourable journalism, as an agent of people, not power."
