Concert: Phil Monsour 'Ghosts of Deir Yassin' album launch.
The songs were written by Phil during and shortly after a trip to the Middle East. Inspired by a number of actual experiences, the lyrics are serious but have an accessibility grounded in real experiences and the stories of real people. In early January 2012 Phil traveled overseas to film a video clip for the title song of the CD and spent five days filming on location in a number of Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon. 3pm. The Noise Bar, 291 Albert St, Brunswick. $15/$10. Proceeds will go to Australian Society for Palestinian-Iraqi Refugees Emergency, Union Aid Abroad to Palestine, Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid.

"Australia has the most restrictive media in the western world. Censorship by omission denies Australians their democratic right to make sense of whole stratas of political and foreign policy. That's why Green Left Weekly is a beacon, doing a job of honourable journalism, as an agent of people, not power."
