Reclaim the Night is an international women’s march held annually. It offers a safe space for women to take to the streets and march against rape and male violence. Women are still subjected to an unacceptable amount of male violence and rape in our communities, for which women commonly are blamed for.
We march, as so many women have done before us, to say that we are never to blame for rape or male violence. Those men who choose to commit these crimes are to blame. We march to demand our right to live without the fear or reality of rape and male violence and we demand an end to male violence against women, we take back this night to win the day.
We call on all women to join us on 26 October to reclaim our right to feel safe in all aspects of our lives.
**To join the Resistance/Socialist Alliance contingent, meet in the Activist Centre, Level 2, 95 Currie St at 6pm

"Australia has the most restrictive media in the western world. Censorship by omission denies Australians their democratic right to make sense of whole stratas of political and foreign policy. That's why Green Left Weekly is a beacon, doing a job of honourable journalism, as an agent of people, not power."
