Speak-out for human rights

October 11, 2008
Issue

The Canterbury Bankstown Peace Group (CBPG) is organising a speak-out at Paul Keating Park, Bankstown, on October 18 to demand respect for human rights.

Mamdouh Habib, a member of CBPG, is still fighting for the Rudd government to investigate the previous Howard government's involvement in his arrest, torture, rendition to Egypt and his transfer to Guantanamo Bay.

The speak-out will also hear from young people who are being harassed by police for no reason other than their skin colour. Others will address how the so-called "anti-terror" laws are being used in a racist way against people of Arabic background. For more information contact 0403 037 376.
