Frack Free WA protested outside the Hyatt Regency on September 6 where a fracking conference was being held.
Representatives from Black Mountain Energy and Buru Energy, companies with exploratory fracking plans in place for the Kimberley, were presenting to the Good Oil & Gas Conference.
Lock the Gate Alliance spokesperson Claire McKinnon said there was nothing “good” about fracking.
“The name of this conference is truly Orwellian. We know there’s nothing ‘good’ about fracking, especially in a place as unique and special as the Kimberley.”
Corporations want to frack thousands of oil and gas wells across the Kimberley region, which would unleash a more than 13 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
