Protest against SA public service cuts!

Date: Fri 8 Oct, 1:00pm

Kevin Foley's office - State Administration Centre 200 Victoria Square, Adelaide, Australia 08 October · 12:30 - 14:00 rally in protest of the wide sweeping public service cuts that have been announced in the budget. The public sector, the support network of our economy, is now at risk because the state Labor government plans to axe more than 3700 public service jobs. The cuts go much further than the public service, they affect many areas that should not be cut. Year 12 for adults over 21 will no longer be available at adult education campuses, people will be told to go to TAFE instead, however bridging courses are just not the same as year 12. 450 million will be taken out of health, putting an already distressed sector in more trouble. Education and childrens services cut by $145.7 million. At the same time Labor are planning these service cuts, with the media distracted with the budget, Labor and Liberal politicians sneaked in a 15% superannuation rise for themselves in parliament just the other day! The situation is outrageous! The public should not be made to pay for Labor's mismanagement though cuts to our services. more info: http://www.cpsu.asn.au/webnews/2010/100806_wwwdoesntaddup.html

Job cuts = Service cuts. MARCH AND RALLY for workers rights

Date: Tue 26 Oct, 12:30pm

MARCH AND RALLY – TUESDAY, 26 OCTOBER 2010 TIME: 12.00 noon DATE: TUESDAY, 26 OCTOBER 2010 WHERE: ASSEMBLE VICTORIA SQUARE ADELAIDE AND MARCH TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE Last week's rally at Parliament House was the biggest and most successful so far. The numbers swelled out and across North Terrace and could not be ignored. The strong pressure against the Bill must be maintained and increased. It is critical the under-handed approach in Treasurer Foley's Budget – job cuts which really mean service cuts, cuts to working conditions not by negotiation but by legislation – is stopped. Treasurer Foley is wrong and the staff cuts will mean service cuts and that good faith Enterprise Bargaining must be respected by employers, not overridden by a whim of Government. But, most importantly, come to march and protest on 26 October and bring with you your colleagues, family and friends and your voice. www.cpsu.asn.au

Rally 4 Free & Frequent Public Transport! Planet B4 Profits!

Date: Sat 30 Oct, 2:30pm

30 October · 14:00 - 16:30 Hindmarsh Sqr, Adelaide Critical Climate - Making business as usual too expensive. Less than 2% of the $6 billion energy & transport subsidies for big business could replace Adelaide Metro’s fare revenue for an entire year. A bit more could start to seriously improve the system. Apart from increasing public transport patronage, free public transport would also reduce the cost of living for the poorest people in our society. The government is already taking their money and giving it to corporations. There's no doubt people would prefer that money was used to pay for public services which could help save the planet. Planet Before Profits!
