BRIEF
Speak-out for human rights
Raul Bassi, Sydney
11 October 2008
The Canterbury Bankstown Peace Group (CBPG) is organising a speak-out at Paul Keating Park, Bankstown, on October 18 to demand respect for human rights.
Mamdouh Habib, a member of CBPG, is still fighting for the Rudd government to investigate the previous Howard governments involvement in his arrest, torture, rendition to Egypt and his transfer to Guantanamo Bay.
The speak-out will also hear from young people who are being harassed by police for no reason other than their skin colour. Others will address how the so-called anti-terror laws are being used in a racist way against people of Arabic background. For more information contact 0403 037 376.
