BRIEF
Footballer and lawyer 'harassed' by police
Dale Mills, Sydney
21 April 2007
Bulldogs winger Hazem El Masri and lawyer Adam Houda were racially harassed on the night of April 12, according to the two men.
Both were sitting at a cafe in Regents Park when police arrived and demanded the mens identification. Houda pointed out that police in NSW do not have the right to demand identification except in limited circumstances, yet when they refused to show ID, back-up police were called because the men were not cooperating. El Masri and Houda say that were targeted and harassed because of their race and both say they will make a formal complaint. NSW Police deny any wrongdoing over the confrontation.
