Report on WTO meeting

22 February 2006

SYDNEY — On February 15, the Australian Fair Trade and Investment Network (Aftinet) held a meeting to report back on the World Trade Organisation’s December 13-18 summit in Hong Kong.

Aftinet spokesperson Jemma Bailey described the summit as a “shadowy world of unofficial meetings” in which the rich countries, including Australia, were able to use their combined power to diffuse opposition to neoliberal economic policies by splitting poor nations from the very poor nations. More information can be found at <http://www.aftinet.org.au/bulletins/latestbulletin.html>.
