On June 21, 200 people, representing 127 organisations, gathered at Malaysias Parliament House to protest the proposed privatisation of the countrys water supply management. Malaysias ruling National Front party is rapidly privatising basic utilities, and a senior minister recently indicated that the parliament may soon rubber stamp the water privatisation, which is currently before a select committee. The protest was largely organised by the Malaysian Socialist Party and the Malaysian Trade Union Congress.
