UNITED STATES: Pollution agencies threatened

2 March 2005

On February 18, a US senate committee demanded that the peak body representing state pollution monitoring agencies, and that that represented local pollution monitoring agencies, hand over their financial records. The two peak bodies had given a submission two day before that criticised US President George Bush’s Clean Skies proposal to institute a market approach to cutting power plant pollution. A representative for the two groups said they received no money from environmental activists or private interests.
