Free Craig Johnston!

17 November 2004

On August 27, former Victorian secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Craig Johnston was jailed for nine months for an industrial protest in defence of jobs. Despite 40-50 people being involved in the protest, only

Johnston was singled out for jailing. Johnston is the first person in many years to be jailed for a non-violent industrial or political protest.

Fifteen Victorian unions have called a mass protest in demand of Johnston’s release at 10am on November 25, outside the State Library in Melbourne. Phone 0413 377 978 for more information.
