‘We won’t stand for Howard’s lies’

17 November 1993

Activists, campaign groups and prominent individuals across Australia have come behind the national “End the lies” demonstrations scheduled for October 2-3. Below are messages of support for the protests.

Jenny Leong, Greens candidate for Sydney

It is time to end the Howard government. The “End the lies” rally will give people the opportunity to come together to show their disgust and outrage at the divisive and destructive agenda of the Howard government. But it will also be a celebration of the people in our community who support a more humane, more just, compassionate and sustainable future for Australia and the world. As always, the Greens are proud to be a part of such an event.

Dave Harrison, Left Alternative, University of Western Australia

From children overboard to Iraq’s non-existent weapons of mass destruction to the phoney “benefits” of the free trade agreement with the US, Howard continues to deliberately lie to the Australian people and neither the media nor the Labor Party has made any real attempt to call him into account.

The “End the lies” rally is important as one of the only ways to send a truly democratic message that we haven’t forgotten Howard’s constant lies, and we won’t stand for it any longer.
