Museworthy: The Veil

Between 3 and 4 am
even singularly we wage war
and die from its effects
Corpses litter the night
with beauty
with love
See the distance purple us
with its flowers
its brokenness
How slowly should we leave
the decaying house?
When is the house, slowly destroyed,
destroyed enough to leave?
Can time be chosen?
When can we name the moment
that our dwelling falls
to this earth, our own?
With dawn
we share the veil
among us
By morning
age is upon us
and the trees have blown
across the tended paths
