Ambush In Mogadishu — On October 3, 1993, elite US military units were pinned down on the streets of Mogadishu by forces of the Somali warlord Mohammed Farah Aideed. This incident has been given the Hollywood treatment in Black Hawk Down. Eighteen US soldiers died. This updated version of a US PBS Frontline program claims that Osama bin Laden gave operational support to Aideed. SBS, Saturday, February 23, 7.30pm.

The Hospital At The End Of The World — The Aral Sea, in central Asia, was the world's largest inland body of water as recently as 30 years ago. It has receded up to 100 kilometres from its original shoreline. The gradual disappearance of the sea is one of the greatest ecological disasters caused by humanity.
