The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union launched its national “pattern bargaining” Campaign 2001 at rallies in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide on December 6. Campaign 2001 is raising a set of demands for inclusion in enterprise agreements being fought for by workers simultaneously across the manufacturing industry. Demands include a minimum annual pay increase of 6%, a 30% loading and a minimum of 8 hours work per day for casual contract staff, and a common expiry date for all enterprise agreements. The campaign follows the successful Campaign 2000 that was pursued by the Victorian AMWU leadership.
