A Political Prescription

A Political Prescription

A Political Prescription

I couldn't get to sleep last night,
my mind was not at ease,
I couldn't get to sleep last night,
the Doctor said, I have a Capitalist Disease.
Please explain, just what do you mean?
She said, you don't belong in this bourgeois society,
for you have a conscience, care about humanity,
believe in justice, freedom and equality.
Those faces you see in your hidden dreams,
the images of death, unrelenting screams,
your comrades in East Timor who are suffering to be free,
your comrades in Indonesia prepared to die for democracy.
There is only one cure, you know what I mean,
you were born to make a difference, a revolutionary.
Ignite the fires within those that find it hard to believe,
the workers hold the antidote to this Capitalist Disease.
Campaign against the Government who bow to the regime,
shout it to the streets, Indonesia must be free.
Raise the political consciousness everywhere you go,
all these things I say to you, you already know.
So leave me to tend to those whom I can help with my degree,
for your disease cannot be cured medically.
Motivate the masses, follow your destiny,
let the world know you are a born revolutionary!
