SBS to screen new Jabiluka doco

As the final decision of the listing of Kakadu National Park on the “World Heritage in danger” list approaches on July 12, SBS is to screen Cathy Henkel's documentary Walking Through a Minefield. Narrated by film personality Rachel Griffiths, the film focuses on the main players in the struggle over the uranium mine at Jabiluka

Walking Through a Minefield studies the conflict through the views and actions of a range of traditional Aboriginal owners, anti-mine protesters, company executives, mine workers, police officers and residents of the Jabiru.

Henkel and co-producer Jeff Canin's compelling documentary gives a human face to the epic struggle taking place over the Jabiluka mine and the confronting question of Australia's role in the world nuclear fuel cycle.

Walking Through a Minefield screens on SBS on Friday, July 9, at 8.30pm.
