Kumarangk campaign to screen McLibel

ADELAIDE -- The Kumarangk Legal Defence Fund is to present McLibel, a remarkable documentary about British campaigners Helen Steel and Dave Morris, who were sued by the giant

McDonald's corporation.

Funds raised will help the defence case of those being sued, including Green Left Weekly, for alleged defamation in connection with the campaign to stop the building of the Hindmarsh Island bridge.

Filmed over three years, the 60-minute documentary follows Steel and Morris as they struggle to defend themselves in the longest defamation trial in English history.

Britain's BBC and Channel 4 refused to broadcast the film for fear of libel action by McDonald's. This film may never be shown on Australian TV.

For screening dates and times, see page 30.
