Movie: 1900 part 1 (1976) -- Bernardo Bertolucci's sweeping saga of political change in Italy between 1900 and 1945 is told through the eyes of two friends born on the same day -- the weak-willed Alfredo (Robert De Niro), son of the lord of the manor (Burt Lancaster), and the bastard peasant son (Gerard Depardieu), who becomes a communist leader.
