German solidarity against Jabiluka uranium mine

13 May 1998

German solidarity against Jabiluka uranium mine

The following “Declaration of Solidarity” was adopted at an April 17-19 conference of the German anti-nuclear movement attended by activists from more than 40 cities.

The Nationwide Conference of the German Anti-Nuclear Movement supports the struggle of the Mirrar people against the planned uranium mine at Jabiluka and declares its solidarity with the blockaders.

The uranium, mined in Australia, becomes nuclear waste in Germany. The German anti-nuclear movement protests strongly against nuclear waste transports, for example to the planned nuclear waste storage at Gorleben, and has organised massive blockades.

We strongly demand the immediate stop of all use of nuclear energy worldwide.

The nuclear fuel chain needs to be stopped at its source.

We welcome and support the new form of action of the Australian anti-nuclear resistance with this long-term blockade.

We wish you success and lots of power!
