Indonesian students and workers arrested

On September 23, at least nine students and workers were arrested during a protest outside the Indonesian national parliament building against new, repressive labour laws.

Demonstrators from several factories in the Jabotek industrial zone on the outskirts of Jakarta, along with students from the National Committee of Supporters of Democracy, gathered in front of the parliament before entering the lobby, where they remained for two hours.

Because the parliament was in recess, they then began marching to the Department of Labour but were stopped by the military. The exact number of arrests is not known.
