DARWIN -- The Gaia Foundation is protesting against Australian uranium mining and exports with a 55-day bus trip -- the Pilgrimage Project -- visiting the Ranger and Jabiluka mine sites in the NT, and Maralinga in South Australia.

Two Russians from Novozybkov, a city still highly contaminated from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, will join the trip, which began in Perth on August 6. Aboriginal communities affected by uranium mining will be visited. The pilgrimage also aims to visit Lucas Heights. There will be a public meeting as it reaches each major centre.

High school rally against racism

SYDNEY -- Around 80 high school students rallied at Sydney Town Hall after school on September 5 for speak-out against racism. They then marched to John Howard's Sydney office before assembling in Pitt Street mall for a rally.

Students from schools across Sydney participated in the action, which was organised by Resistance. Afterwards, the students returned to the Resistance Centre where future anti-racism actions were planned.
