WorkCover fight continues

By Michael Bull

Melbourne -- A campaign of constant harassment by construction workers is beginning to fluster the Victorian premier, Jeff Kennett.

For the past fortnight, 100 building workers have gathered outside radio station 3AW on Thursday mornings, when Kennett does a regular radio interview with right-wing talkback host Neil Mitchell. The workers are protesting the Victorian government's draconian changes to WorkCover.

Amidst claims from one woman protester of being pushed to the ground by the premier on April 3, Kennett himself is complaining of being "hassled and elbowed" by demonstrators.

The actions, which have attracted widespread press coverage, will continue until May 8, followed by an all-union stoppage on May 14 when a rally will be held at 9am at Trades Hall.
