The building where
Green Left Weekly is produced is badly in need of repair. We desperately need help to repair the exterior and interior of part of the building where the brickwork is crumbling away, allowing Sydney's weather to wreak havoc on the valuable equipment inside. We have been able to acquire a reasonable amount of production equipment thanks to the ongoing fundraising campaign, the
Green Left Weekly fund appeal. However, without urgent action, the poor state of the building will set back our bid to improve the quality of the newspaper. The building does more than house
Green Left Weekly's production equipment. It is also the venue for many other political and cultural activities, including the Resistance Centre and Bookshop. It is the distribution point of
Green Left, and the space where a generation of young activists are learning and coordinating their activities. One reader who generously donated $500 to the building maintenance fund recently commented on how much she valued the space, not only for
Green Left Weekly, but also as the Sydney venue for Cultural Dissent events. Can you help with the building's urgently needed repairs by donating to the building maintenance fund? We already have $26,000 in donations, but need around $20,000 more. Your money will help to ensure the continued production of Australia's leading progressive newspaper. See page 9 for details of how you can donate.
Green Left Weekly -- it's your paper.
