BRISBANE -- A mass meeting called by the Communications Workers Union on September 7 endorsed a motion opposing the Queensland and Federal Labor government's plans to privatise Suncorp, Telecom, Australia Post, ANL and Brisbane airports. The meeting also voted to support any action taking place in opposition to privatisation.

CANBERRA -- A union-sponsored rally and march against privatisation will be held on Wednesday, September 21. Assemble at noon at Civic Swimming Pool to march to Civic Square and the ACT Assembly Building, arriving at 12.30. Speakers will include the federal Labor MP for Fraser, John Langmore, CPSU secretary Cath Garvan, ANF secretary Colleen Duff and ACT TLC assistant secretary Maureen Sheehan.

WOLLONGONG -- A public meeting on women's right to choose abortion will be held on September 15 at the Illawarra Migrant Resource Centre, starting at 7pm. Speakers include Dr Chris Gow (Workers Medical Centre), Helen Westwood (Betsy Smyth Clinic), Maria Giannnacopoulos (Resistance and Wollongong Women's Collective) and Mary Davis (Illawarra Koori Centre).
