Green, left and sumptuous

7 September 1994

Green Left has become a cultural institution over the three and a half years since it began publishing. The scale of the paper's achievements was brought home fully to the 240 people who attended the annual Green Left Weekly dinner in Sydney on August 27.

Treated to a sumptuous three course Thai meal, all were entertained by Taliesin and later able to dance until the small hours. And all this while putting their money where their mouth was to support the Green Left project.

The 1994 Sydney dinner was hailed as a success by all who attended and all who organised. It raised close to $2000 for the ongoing work of Green Left Weekly, while winning a range of new friends for the project.

The Adelaide Green Left annual dinner will be held on September 17. The central organiser of the night, Chris Spindler, predicts it will be even larger than last year, when so many supporters attended that extra tables and chairs had to be set up outside the hall! Chris is hoping for a fine evening.

The second Green Left dinner for the year in Melbourne has been postponed until October 8. In the tradition of GL dinners in Melbourne, it promises to be a political and culinary success.

Green Left Weekly needs the financial assistance of our supporters to go on publishing. But that doesn't mean it's all hard work.

Show your support and come to a great evening of political entertainment as well. Green Left dinners are your opportunity to dine out in green and left style.

For details on the dinner near you, check “Meetings ... Parties ... Anything” in this edition. Green Left Weekly -- it's your newspaper.
