James Brook is a Melbourne-based solo singer guitarist who has been playing his hard-edged brand of political folk for about a year. In that time he has toured the east coast with the folk punk band Mutiny, played benefits for the Austudy 5, Nurrungar, Solomon Islands appeal, Black Star Club and the East Gippsland campaign.

His heartfelt lyrical songs range from love and sexual issues to protest, travelling, police violence and graffiti. Believing that music isn't everything, James has gone to court over the Nurrungar protests, spent time at forest blockades and is into squatting and alternative lifestyles. He heads for Europe in October. His original acoustic/electric sonic “clank” guitar sound and spoken/sung lyrics are available on the “Why the games” tape. To obtain a copy, send $6 to PO Box 1158 North Fitzroy 3068 (include your address).
