Public cinema for Newtown

SYDNEY -- The third in a series of screenings to highlight the need for a public cinema in the inner suburb of Newtown takes place when the community newspaper Newtown Bridge presents Riding the Gale, a poignant documentary about the life of Genni Batterham and her battle with MS.

Although it is well known amongst film makers, there are few opportunities for the film to be seen by the general public. Riding the Gale will be screening at Burland Hall, 218 King Street, Newtown, on July 13 (with guest speaker Genni Batterham), 18 and 19 at 8pm. Tickets $5, on sale one hour before screenings.

Newtown Bridge will give double passes to the first three Green Left readers to phone 516 4755 after 10.30am on Friday, July 8. Ask for Diana.
