Support for Greens

PERTH -- “We are urging unions to lend their weight and support to the Greens in the by-elections”, Perth Democratic Socialist Party secretary Stephen Robson told Green Left Weekly.

The by-election for the federal seat of Fremantle will be held on March 12, and the state by-election for Glendalough a week later. The Greens (WA) are standing lawyer Stephen Walker in Fremantle and unionist Stewart Jackson in Glendalough.

“It's vitally important that a constituency that unites social justice and environmental concerns be built”, Robson explained.

The DSP is calling for preferences to flow through to the ALP in these by-elections.
