The 1993 Boyer Lectures -- Mandawuy Yunupingu Best known as the lead singer of the Aboriginal band Yothu Yindi, Yunupingu is a traditional owner of Gurnatj land in Arnhem Land. He is on sabbatical from his job as principal of Yirrkala school. Deeply involved in educational issues, including networking and linking between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal schools, Yunupingu discusses the philosophy of “two-way” education and its effectiveness in promoting tolerance and awareness between cultures. He also speaks about the necessity of Aborigines controlling land, communities and schools. ABC Radio National, Saturday, February 26, 1.30 p.m.
