Brewery struggle continues

Perth -- The struggle to halt redevelopment of the old Swan Brewery site has entered another year and shows no sign of abating, despite the actions of WA government-backed developer Multiplex.

The company used the Christmas shutdown period to begin applying for six liquor licences, even though the buildings are many months away from possible completion.

It was suggested Multiplex was hoping that the picketers, many of whom attend the site every morning, would be enjoying the break and not notice. Fortunately this was not the case, and several objections have already been lodged with the liquor licensing board.

Further information is available on the “Brewery picket line” -- ph 0055 26057.
