ANC rep's home attacked

By Chris Spindler

ADELAIDE -- In what was obviously a premeditated attack, windows in the house of Algernon Van der Hoeven, African National Congress representative in Adelaide, were smashed with bricks in the early hours of October 5. No other houses in the street were attacked.

In circumstances reminiscent of past, racially motivated, attacks, this strike could be a response to the high profile of the Australians for Democracy in South Africa. ADISA is raising money for both the voter education campaign and the ANC election campaign for the South African elections next April 27.

In response to the attack, Van der Hoeven stressed the need for continuing and increased support for the activities and campaigns of ADISA. You can reach ADISA in Adelaide by phoning 410 1532.
