Earlier this year Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett made a speech in which he gave this insight into his economic philosophy: “There is no such thing as equality. We live in a competitive world. If you try and make the fat man thin, the thin man ultimately dies. We have got to encourage the fat man to become fatter so that the thin man becomes fatter.”
