Seminar slams enterprise bargaining

By Jim McIlroy

BRISBANE -- “The problem of enterprise bargaining is the fault of the whole trade union movement”, Queensland Transport Workers Union vice-president Paul Hooper told a 50-strong seminar here on June 19.

Hooper explained that the state TWU had won a number of $25 agreements at various yards, without loss of award conditions, but that overall enterprise bargaining would lead to multiskilling and losses in jobs.

Bill Dawson, from the Communications Workers Union, told the seminar, organised by the International Socialist Organisation, that “the Accord and enterprise bargaining are both about class collaboration”.
