I first saw Coloured Stone at a semi-trendy, close to seedy, underground tavern in Sydney. I was into ska music at the time but I was there to see a rockabilly band. Coloured Stone was the support band for the night. I had no idea who they were or what type of music they played. The performance struck me as something new, then, and their lyrics were openly progressive.

Coloured Stone's latest CD album, Inma Juju (Dance Music) has a mix of tracks that go great with daydreams as well as dancing.

The track “Kapi Pulka (Big Rain)” has a melody to match the story about the importance of water for the land and waiting for rain. One of my personal favourites, “Kapi Pulka” was first released as the B side to Coloured Stones' 1984 single “Black Boy”.

“Dancing in the Moonlight” is another track with a hypnotic melody; you can dance or drift away with this song.

“Island of Greed” refers to uranium mining and waste, while “Don't Drink Don't Drive” has up-front lyrics about the dangers of drink driving and a pub sound to boot.
